Gravel Driveways, Chip Seal Roads, and Tires That Handle Both
Copper Canyon is small, and that is the point. A few hundred homes on real acreage, long private drives, and roads that go from chip seal to caliche to gravel and back again inside of a mile.
Those roads are hard on trucks in a way that highway miles are not. Gravel chews sidewalls. Washboard finds every worn bushing you own. Caliche dust gets into everything with a boot on it. And a set of highway tires that looked fine on the showroom floor will let you down on a wet caliche grade the first time you are in a hurry.
So the conversation with a Copper Canyon customer usually starts with the tire, not the lift. Get the tire right — the right compound, the right sidewall, the right load range — and everything else gets easier.
All-terrain and hybrid-terrain tires with sidewall protection that survives a gravel drive — Nitto, Toyo, Falken, BFGoodrich, Fury, Yokohama and Goodyear. Sized and load-rated for your truck, not guessed at.
Shocks, bushings, ball joints, tie rods and track bars take a beating on unpaved roads. We inspect the whole front end when your truck is on the rack, and we tell you what is actually worn.
You are nine minutes away. Drop it off, we call you with what we find, and you get the truck back the same week. No ticket number, no call center.
Constant small-amplitude vibration is the quiet killer. A truck that runs a mile of washboard every day will loosen sway bar end links, wear ball joints and kill shocks years earlier than the same truck on pavement. None of that announces itself — it shows up as a clunk over a speed bump, or a steering wheel that no longer returns to center.
Tire choice is the other half. A three-ply sidewall or a tougher all-terrain compound costs a little more up front and saves you the tow bill the first time a sharp piece of caliche finds a highway tire. We will show you the load range and the ply rating on the sidewall and explain what the numbers actually mean.
And alignment matters more out here, not less. Every impact nudges toe. A truck that is a quarter degree out will scrub the edges off a new set of all-terrains in a surprisingly short time on rough roads. Our basic one-hour alignment exists for exactly this.
If you are lifting on top of that, we set caster properly so the truck still tracks straight when the surface is loose — which is the difference between a lifted truck that feels planted and one that feels nervous.
All of it in-house, at our Argyle shop, at a $150 per hour door rate with every job quoted in writing before we touch your truck.
There are more Jeeps around Copper Canyon than most people notice — JL and JK Wranglers on 35s, Gladiators pulling trailers, TJs that have been in the family a decade. Same bay, same crew, same written quote. See everything we do for Jeeps.
A steering stabilizer hides death wobble. It does not fix it. We check the track bar, ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings and wheel balance before we sell you a single part — that is how we run a death wobble diagnosis.
A JL or JT on 35s with factory gears is slow off the line, hot on the highway and hard on the transmission. We do the lift and the regear together so the Jeep drives right when it leaves.
Drop the Jeep off, we pull the hardtop and reinstall it when the weather turns. The top goes home with you — we do not store it. Hardtop removal and reinstall.

Generally an all-terrain or hybrid-terrain with a reinforced sidewall — think Nitto Ridge Grappler, Toyo Open Country, BFGoodrich KO-class, Falken Wildpeak or Fury. The specific answer depends on how much highway you also drive and how much noise you will tolerate. We will lay the options out with real trade-offs.
Most often sway bar end links, worn bushings, or a loose track bar — all inexpensive. Sometimes it is a ball joint or a shock that has given up. Bring it in, we will put it on the rack and tell you what we actually find rather than guessing over the phone.
Not necessarily. A leveling kit will usually get you to a 33 on a half-ton with no trimming, which is plenty of tire for unpaved roads. We would rather sell you the right tire on a level than a taller lift you did not need.
